Rideau Canal Skateway: The 56th season is officially open! As of this week, a 3.4km section (Somerset to Bank St.) is ready for skaters.
The Rink of Dreams (City Hall): This is the ultimate "magical" experience. At night, the ice is illuminated with multi-colored LED lights and there’s almost always music playing. Parent Pro-Tip: There is a heated change hut and washrooms right inside City Hall (open until 11:00 pm), so you don't have to struggle with skates in the freezing wind.
Lansdowne Skating Court: Located right next to the beautiful Aberdeen Pavilion. It’s a bit more tucked away, making it a great spot for younger kids who might find the Canal or City Hall a bit overwhelming. Parent Pro-Tip: There are no skate rentals here, so bring your own! However, there is a play structure right next to the rink - perfect if one child wants to skate and the other just wants to climb. Plus, you’re steps away from hot chocolate at any of the Glebe’s cafes.
Canada Strong Pass: A huge win for parents—from now until January 15, admission is FREE for kids 17 and under at all national museums (Nature, Science & Tech, Aviation, Agriculture, History, War, and National Gallery).
Play Free Saturdays: The City of Ottawa offers free drop-in swimming, skating, and gym sports every Saturday for youth 17 and under at select community centers.
Tobogganing: at the Carlington Park or Mooney’s Bay are lit at night - great for burning energy right before bedtime.

"At the end of the day, the most overwhelming key to a child's success is the positive involvement of parents."
